Flugtag & More

What a hot week! We had two days in the triple digits and most of the week was in the 90s. I am grateful I am not more pregnant than I am because it would be hard to live in this heat with a huge belly. When the weekend came, I went straight home at noon and got in the pool. It had been closed the last few days, which of course were the hottest days of the year, but I was glad it was open for the weekend! I swam around for awhile. Then got home and I called Heather. We chatted for awhile and caught up on life! It was great! That evening Bryce volunteered at a 5K race so I had the evening to myself and ended up hanging out at the Brook's. I then got Dang's Thai for dinner when Bryce got home.

Saturday we both got up early to play basketball and work out. Then we got ready and Bryce took his car to the mechanics and then I picked him up and we got a car wash.We came home and ate breakfast - a Peaches & Cream french toast casserole. I made it earlier in the week, but didn't cook it until early Saturday morning so it wouldn't heat up our already hot apartment too much. It was pretty good, but I need to change the recipe a little to make it really dynamite. I didn't love how the cream cheese didn't spread out and maybe a caramel sauce.
Top Left - uncooked; Bottom Left - cooked; Right - a piece of it!

After our late breakfast, we headed downtown for the Red Bull Flugtag. Bryce has had it on the calendar for awhile and one of his partner's son was in the competition. He is a MIT aerospace engineer so high expectations to win it! We arrived before it started and set up our chairs in the shade. When it started we had to stand in the sun, which was hot, but it was super entertaining.
Our favorite team was the first one surprisingly - a cowboy and four guys in bull costumes. They had a great introduction video, the dancing was well done, and when the covered wagon sides lifted up to reveal their glide design we were impressed. It didn't fly all that well, but it was fun and entertaining. After watching a few teams, we sat back in the shade. We then alternated between watching the big screen in the shade and watching in the sun. So fun, but since it was so hot we left before it was done.

We then got BBQ for a late lunch/early dinner. It was delicious. I especially enjoyed the blackberry lemonade and potato salad. We then relaxed in our air-conditioned bedroom until we decided to go get an Oreo milkshake. It was delicious! We then watched Sabrina and ate a whole bag of cheddar cheese popcorn.

Sunday we prepared our lessons and got ready for church in the morning. We had a nice testimony meeting and then taught our primary classes. After church, we ate lots of leftovers and then I talked to my mom for awhile. We spent the remaining part of the evening at our neighbors returning a plate, but ended up talking for awhile and eating cake to celebrate the dad's birthday. Then we stopped by the Brook's before heading home to go to bed!
