Gender Party

Showered in Pink or Swimming in Blue?!?
We have been waiting for June 23rd to find out the gender of the baby for awhile and finally it came! Bryce and I could barely focus on work Tuesday morning until our noon appointment. We got to the doctor's around the same time and just had to wait a little bit. We went in for the ultrasound and the first view was of the baby's head with mouth opened wide and tongue movement. SO CUTE!
Baby was active and moved a lot, which explains why I feel like I on a roller coaster during the day. We got to see the heart and kidneys. All the bone development and important things were there. It just looked like the most perfect human being weighing about 1 pound. We then found out the gender!
Baby is a BOY
Apparently, it was very clear to the nurse, but I wouldn't have known if she didn't point it out. Also, funny side story when we first found out we were pregnant I wanted a boy, but then I realized that if I had a girl I would need to be happy about that too. So for the last two months, I have been preparing myself for a girl. We even picked out girl names and even had one we both liked! But lo and behold, baby is a boy! That is 6 grandsons for my parents! Apparently, we do boys.

After the ultrasound I met with the doctor and while waiting I was like ok, now we need to have a girl next. Hold your horses, Brittany, you haven't even had baby one yet. Can't move on to baby two yet! On my way back to work, I called my mom and told her the exciting news. I also called my dad, but he was in a meeting so he called me back. Then told my coworkers and showed them the pictures. I went and visited my old team and told them. My one coworker found a pair of baby Nike shoes so he is already getting a good start on being well outfitted! I then texted Celeste the news and could barely do any work for the rest of the day!
When I go home, I was  still so excited to tell people so ran downstairs to tell Melanie. I conference called Landon and Shelley. I then called Celeste to tell her more about the appointment. Then Bryce and I went to multiple stores to get stuff for the gender reveal party. I was kind of sad I didn't schedule it for Tuesday night because I really didn't want to wait to tell everyone, but there just wasn't time before so we had it Thursday. Bryce was a good support and went to two Targets so I could get everything I wanted for the party because I had a vision!

I then stayed up late working on crafts with Melanie for the party and then woke up tired Wednesday. I called Spencer and Miriam first thing to tell them we were having a boy and then called Hyrum to tell him. I went to work and was busy so didn't have time to feel tired. When I got home there was a baby gift on the porch from the Clayton's! So exciting and sweet of them, but so sad they are moving! Then I went visiting teaching. After Bryce and I went shopping to find a few more things for the party, but of course, one store couldn't have everything so ran around a little bit. I still couldn't find Strawberry Puffs, but I was set on having them made a list of stores to check in the morning.

We got home and I made granny goose popcorn, which is actually called mother goose popcorn, but that is what we called it growing up so it stuck. Then Melanie was busy making a cake and I cut up confetti and put the balloons together. We ended up staying up until 12:30AM!

Thursday I got up and was even more tired, but the adrenaline was pumping. I hunted down the Strawberry Puffs and Bryce picked them up at Plaid Pantry! My day at work wasn't too bad and we had our big end of year party. There was a ton of food and games. It was so hot though that I hid in the shade for most of it. The Band Perry performed and we rocked out.
I left early to get ready for the gender reveal party. It was quite hot and I had to take a cold shower when I got home. I then ran to Trader Joe's to get flowers. I got home and Melanie was busy getting things ready. Christina was so kind and helped frost the cake. We then made food labels and Bryce blew up balloons. It all took longer than I expected, but it turned out amazing. I have such talented and kind friends.
With all the planning for the party, I didn't actually think about how the party would run so everyone got there and I was like I guess we will start with voting. Everyone either took a gummy shark for "Swimming in Blue" or a strawberry puff for "Showered in Pink" YUM!
We then all got a balloon and needle to pop and find out the color of the confetti - BLUE!!!!
We then ate delicious strawberry vanilla cake with beautiful blue and pink layers!
We ate and talked and then moved the party inside to sit and relax. (Again, thank you to the Brook's for letting us use their much cooler apartment! I never want to move or let them move!!!) We cleaned up and then slept with the AC blowing full blast.
It was such a great party and can't believe how amazing everything looked. We have amazing friends! And now to plan for baby boy!!!!!!

  1. Those are yummy gummies. I think they were worth the extra work. You'll have to teach me to make that popcorn! I love that popcorn but have no idea how to make it. Your decorations look so cute. You girls are very talented.
