Bring on the Beets

Friday evening, Bryce and I went to a fireside with Elder Ballard. His son is the Portland Mission President and he was visiting so gave a fireside along with some other meetings. It was mostly a missionary fireside, but I always love when the Gospel is made simple. Some notes I took during the meeting:
  • The Gospel is all about the family.
  • We are in the last days. It will get so bad on earth that the Savior will say that is enough and he will come to reign. (Scary!)
  • Try really hard to obey promptings as quickly as possible.
  • You can go to the spirit world either prepared or wishing you were prepared.
  • The Lord doesn't interfere with our agency.
Love the Gospel and the direction and peace it brings to me. After we went to dinner with our friends, Allie and Jeff.

Saturday I was ready to be productive and have my new year begin. I cleaned and did laundry; I worked and organized our finances; and I worked out and talked to Heidi. In the afternoon, Bryce and I went to the mall to exchange a few things from Christmas and find some clothes. It all went quite nicely and we even found some good deals!

That evening we went out to dinner and I was starving. With such a productive morning and trying to eat healthy, I had not eaten much that day. We tried a new restaurant called Davenport. Even though we didn't have reservations, they were able to seat us pretty quickly so that was very good for my "hangry" self! Then we started with a beet salad (amazing) and some bread with olive oil. It was so good and not just because I was starving. Then Bryce got the best pork tenderloins I have ever tasted. The meat was so tender and flavorful. When I got my plate, I almost died! There were only 2 TWO scallops on the plate. There was also a little bed of cabbage and a scoop of some sauce, but I was wanting a feast. I looked at Bryce and told him we were getting donuts after dinner! After the initial shock of the portion, I enjoyed my meal and it was fantastic. Everything was prepared perfectly and the flavor was incredible. We then went to Voodoo Doughnuts to top off our meal and feel full. It was great! We then watched a moved called Death (correction) The Dead.

Sunday was my first week of our new church time of 12:30. I slept in until 8AM, got ready taking my sweet time, I prepared my primary lesson, and was dressed all before noon. I guess we won't be rushing to get to church on time. My new primary class is good. They are much calmer and there are less kids that come regularly so that will be nice. After church, we came home and ate dinner. Then it was weird not having a Sunday nap, but it was too late for one. We relaxed, called family, and enjoyed the evening before starting another week.

  1. I'm assuming that Bryce selected the movie called Death.
