After getting the materials to make our Halloween costumes on Saturday, we spend all evening Tuesday working on them. The ward trunk-or-treat was on Wednesday night so we didn't have much time. Things were going pretty well for Bryce, but I kept running into issues. First, the white shirt and white dress didn't look very peasant-like and the white hat I made out of a dish towel still looked like a towel on my head. I was getting desperate so we went to the store to get some dye and lace. I quickly dyed the shirt blue and then made a hat out of lace and felt.
Side note: I used the iron we got for wedding for the first time and it is amazing! Both the shirt and dress were linen and after using the iron, they looked great. Usually I feel like irons don't do much, but this iron is awesome. I am going to send another Thank You card to the person who got us that present! Also, there is no other holiday I want my sew machine more than Halloween. Hand sewing is so slow.
Wednesday evening, I hurried home from work and quickly made a square neckline in the dress before we headed to the church. We arrived a little late and enjoyed seeing everyone dressed up. They had a fun photo backdrop so we got our picture. Presenting Hamlet and Ophelia!
We also enjoyed eating some candy and stealing some pizza. Just a starving peasant getting some food!
The actual Halloween weekend ended up being relaxing, social, and
productive. My Friday at work included very little work and mostly meetings and
parties. I ate way too much and enjoyed the chill day. Just look at these cute treats!
When I got home, Bryce
and I ate leftover Thai food and then we went to the Lake Oswego High School
football game with our friends. It was fun and I honestly don’t know if I ever
went to a high school football game while in high school. I do remember going
to high school football games in Idaho and pretty much the whole town was
there. Anyways, the game was against the rival high school the crowd was into
it! We had fun and saw lots of other ward friend there.
On Saturday, Bryce got up and played basketball. Then we
cleaned and de-cluttered the rest of the morning. I also finally got out some
decorations and decorated for Thanksgiving. Bryce wanted to go straight to
Christmas, which I don’t blame him, but my little turkey needs to make an
appearance. Then while Bryce went to
help coach his soccer team, I made it to the gym. We then went to the Moses’
for the BYU football game. It was good to see us win after some very painful
losses. We then got home and watched Megamind since Bryce had never seen it and
I think it is pretty funny.
Sunday we enjoyed the extra hour of sleep and went to
church. When we got home, we made quiche for dinner. I figured since we were
fasting the next best thing to eating food was preparing it. It worked out well
because there was nothing tempting about the quiche ingredients. The hard part
was how long it took to make so we were very hungry when we finally did eat. It
turned out pretty well, but unfortunately, it just made me want pumpkin pie!
After dinner, I made some no-bake cookies to satisfy my sweet tooth. Later that
evening it stopped raining so we took a walk. Now to start another week and
keep the happy thought that we are only three weeks away from Thanksgiving!
