I hate to miss a party and with everyone being in Utah for the Hanks' Family Reunion, I didn't want to miss out. Bryce and I decided on Monday that we could make it happen! We left Friday after working in the morning. We were on the road by 1:45PM and the drive went well. It was the first time I drove back to Utah since moving to Oregon so I told Bryce stories from my drive out. I also took a nap or two on the way. When we got into Idaho, it smelled so badly just like Idaho does bringing back lots of memories of when I lived there. However, it has changed quite a bit. We stopped in Meridian for gas and dinner taking only 15 minutes until we were back on the road. The second half of the drive seemed to last forever. We finally pulled into Orem at 1:45AM and we went right to sleep.
Saturday we woke up around 8:30AM and got ready quickly so we could go to Greg's intramural football game. We were a little late, but we made it. It was so fun to be on campus and after we went to the Bookstore and walked around campus to see the changes. We then stopped off at the creamery where I tried the Swoosh Cecil ice cream, which is a salted caramel cashew ice cream, but it has nothing on Salt & Straw.
After we went back to the hotel and met up with everyone so we could head to the family reunion. It was at a park up Provo Canyon. We got there and I was able to meet lots of Bryce's cousins, aunts, and uncles. I had Bryce map out a family tree so I could keep everyone straight. There was also a ton of food and activities.
Bryce and I having a headstand competition!
We then went to a rodeo on Heber. Bryce and I love rodeos so we were super excited. Plus, they had fireworks! This rodeo had quite a few injuries so it was pretty intense. Vivian, Bryce's niece was with us and she loved it especially the waving and clapping. I was so so happy that she enjoyed the fireworks and didn't cry!
Sunday, we slept in and then went over and had brunch with Landon and Shelley. They made crepes with fruit and eggs. It was so fun to chat with them and catch up on life. I wish we could see our families more! We then headed on the road for our long drive home.
We did stop at In n Out on our way out of Utah because we miss that goodness. We then made it home around 11:30PM and went straight to bed so I wouldn't be too tired for work. But what a weekend it was!
