After all the excitement the last month or so, Bryce and I were ready for a lazy weekend! And it happened last weekend. On Friday, I got off work around noon and came home to beautiful flowers from Bryce for our 14th month anniversary! Then I took a long afternoon nap and read a book. That evening we went downtown to get dinner. We went early so I could try this place Bryce likes, but it has very limited hours open only from 11AM to 5PM. We got there at 4:45PM and it was very closed. Those lazy liars! This is our second time trying to eat at this place. Oh well, we decided to go to a tried and true Indian place, however, we changed our strategy and instead of getting the meal deal we ordered just thinks we like - buttery chicken goodness with rice and naan! Best decision ever! We ate until our stomachs hurt and we still had leftovers.
After dinner we had an hour to kill before meeting up with our friend so we drove around Portland seeing different spots. We first went to this bridge that has a great view of Portland. (It also apparently is a popular suicide spot because there were lots of messages of hope and reasons to live all around.) We then drove up by Washington Park looking at the cool houses, which were surprisingly not that overwhelming. (I also have decided I will cut down trees for a view if needed!) We then stopped by Salt & Straw and got two pints of ice cream and headed to the courthouse to say goodbye to our friend Joe. It was fun and we ate all ice cream. Yum! We then came home and watched The Impossible movie. It was so intense! And I cried, but it was good.
Saturday we slept in and then had crepes! Bryce even picked blackberries that are right outside our apartment and we enjoyed breakfast on the balcony using our new patio table. It is lovely!
Side story: We got the table Wednesday evening at Home Depot for 50% off. The saleslady was laughing at us for waiting so late in the season to get patio furniture, but our tardiness was rewarded with a great price! The next day, Bryce put it together and we welcomed it into our family by eating kebabs on it.
After breakfast, we both read our books. Around noon, we decided to get ready and then went to the Nike Employee Store (I have three extra guest passes if anyone wants to visit us and use them this month). Next we went to the St. John's bridge. We got tacos at a little Mexican place right by it and then ate them at the Cathedral park, which is right under the bridge. It was cool.
There was also a Star Trek performance so the park was crowded, but was still fun. We made it home and enjoyed watching The Third Man, which is set in Vienna so it was fun to watch!
