Bryce and I enjoyed another relaxing weekend. Friday evening, we enjoyed dinner downtown at Olympic Provisions. We got the French platter with yummy meats and cheeses. Then I got the Walnut Pesto Gnocchi and Bryce got the Poached Tuna. Both were very tasty. We then split a dessert - the Chocolate Bombe. Very rich and chocolaty. After we walked around the waterfront and decided if we ever lived downtown it would be in the Pearl Distinct in a cool brick building (I have a specific one picked out if we needed to make the choice today). After we came home and watched The Searchers, an old Western.
Saturday was relaxing, but was filled with unexpected fun. We woke up at a decent hour and had talked about hiking, but our moods were not up for it. So I did some cleaning and organized the finances. After we drove up to Council Crest Park for a fun view of Portland. The roads up there were super crazy and good think Portland does not really get snow or have earthquakes because those houses would be gone! We enjoyed a picnic lunch up at the top.
After the park, we drove around OHSU campus, which is totally awesome! It overlooks Portland and is quite bigger than what it looks like from below. We were impressed. Then we headed to Mt Tabor Park. It is on the Northeast side of Portland. As we approached we saw lots of hipsters and wondered what we had happened upon - the PDX Adult Soupbox Derby, of course! Out of the 30 push-carts we saw, this one was our favorite. It was just too perfect!
Please notice the knife in GOB's mouth while talking to Michael, Buster with a hook hand, and Tobias - the never nude. Only Portland could deliver such a classic performance!
We then made our way home and ate a quick dinner before we headed off to Stake Conference. After we got frozen yogurt and went to our friend's house for a party. Sunday continued with more Stake Conference along with multiple naps, a walk, and bread pudding!
Hey guys, it's Melissa - Bryce's cousin. I used to follow your blog but somewhere in the last year the feed somehow got lost and I missed out on all your happenings! But it's been fun catching up the last day or two. :) Sounds like you guys are happy and that Oregon is treating you well. After this baby comes and life settles down a bit, we'd love to come visit! I love all the hikes and yummy food you post about. Reminds me of the days we were kid-free and actually did things! :) And Brittany - you are so creative with your cards, decorating, cooking and thoughtful gift giving ideas! That is no small feat for a girl who works full time. Congrats on the job at Nike, by the way! That sounds so fun. Anyways, I hope we get to see you two sometime around the holidays. Good luck school, Bryce!
