First Weekend of Summer

If you do not fall in love with Oregon in the summer, you might lack the ability to love because summertime in Oregon is truly amazing! This year has been exceptionally nice because we had a sunny spring, too! (Side note: I now understand why people were apologizing to me two years ago for the rain when I moved to Oregon and experienced the spring/summer when the rain never stopped.)

Anyways, Bryce and I started the summer out right. Friday night, we met up with my friend, Adeline, at Fire on the Mountain. We enjoyed wings with amazing hot sauces (raspberry habanero, lime cilantro, and spicy peanut) and we also got their amazing chips with queso. Then after we went and got fun ice cream at Salt & Straw. I tried a few of their crazy flavors - Strawberry Balasmic Vinegar, Olive Oil, Cinnamon Snickerdoodle - which were all very surprisingly tasty, but I went with the classic - Salted Caramel in a waffle cone. It didn't disappoint!
While eating, we enjoyed the wonderful summer night walking Alberta Street. After we stopped at Bryce Street where Bryce was so excited to find his very own street!
Bryce is so happy he found his street!

Then Saturday, we slept in until 8:30 and then headed to the Gorge to hike to Punchbowl and Tunnel Falls. It is a 12 mile hike round trip and Bryce figured we could do it in three hours. We were going to a movie with friends that afternoon and also wanted to get to the library and Nike Company Store so we did not have a lot of time. We started the hike and it went well and we kept a steady pace, but it ended up taking about 5 hours. It was so beautiful and did not get too hot. Tunnel Falls was really awesome and I love how everything is so green!
Because the hike took longer, we ran the last mile to the car. We got home at 3:30 and ran inside showered and dressed, and were back out the door in 15 minutes making it to the movie with 5 minutes to spare!
We saw Man of Steel, which was pretty good and entertaining, but the last third of the movie consisted of super humans punching each other through buildings and across roads. Overall though, fun and we went to Cinetopia where they have a "living room" setup  to watch the movie. It has sofas, lamps, fireplace, and more that made for a very comfy viewing experience especially nice after a hike. After the movie, we got frozen yogurt with our friends and enjoyed a beautiful Oregon evening.
