Since Labor Day weekend was Bryce's last weekend of freedom, we decided to go up to Auburn to see family and get one last boating trip in for the summer! So we ended up leaving at 2:45pm on Friday, because I get off work early before holidays. Unfortunately, traffic getting out of Portland is always terrible so it took a whole hour to make it to the Washington border, which normally takes around 30 minutes. Luckily, it was smooth sailing from there!
We arrived around 6:30pm and stopped at Applebee's to watch the Michigan State vs BSU football game and to get a quick bite to eat. After we went to Austin and Rachael's place, where we watched more football, ate more food, and saw all the changes they have made to their new place. We loved the couch, TV, and guest room changes!
Saturday, we woke up around 8:30 and ate breakfast before heading out to the lake. It was a beautiful day for boating and no one was on the lake. So Austin went first starting with the wakeboard. Then Bryce did slalom skiing, but his second time up the boat engine cut out. We were not able to get the engine to started so I took advantage of the time and enjoyed sitting in the warm sun and eating yummy snacks. Eventually, we got towed back to shore by another boat.
Allyson and Jen took the boat to the shop and we waited on the shore where I continued to bathe in the sun and eat. So when Allyson and Jen returned, I was quite full, but I decided it would provide the energy required for skiing! I did the wakeboard first, which was fun but uses crazy leg muscle so after a few times I switched to skiing until my legs and arms gave out. So fun, but I am so weak! Bryce did more slalom skiing and wakeboarding, which he is able to make look so easy!
We finally got off the water around 5pm and headed back to the house. We grilled some chicken and rented John Carter to finish out the evening!
Sunday, we went to church and then took a long nap afterwards. I was so tired and sore from boating! We went back over to Allyson and Jen's for dinner where I successfully ate myself into a crepe coma. I was so full, which I always do on Fast Sundays. I just couldn't help myself with all the yummy food! We then sat around talking and later watched Iron Man.
On Monday, we woke up and went to the Black Diamond Cafe, which was so yummy. There was a little wait so we enjoyed the classic car show just down the street. It was another lovely day and I just enjoyed all the clear skies and being in the sun. After we came home and Bryce helped Austin carry the recliner, love sac, and treadmill up the stairs, while Rachael and I watched.
Then we had lunch over at Allyson and Jen's place for a late lunch before we headed back to Portland. I did not eat as much so I was able to stay awake on the drive home.
The one thing I must mention is how cold it was at night! I was FREEZING. And the air mattress did not make things better. I am just so not ready for fall....summer came so late that I want at least another month of good warm weather. When we got back to Portland it was warmer and we are suppose to have temperatures in the 80s this week so I am hoping it will happen!
