After a very long week of work and school, we had a very exciting and fun weekend. We got things started Friday night by going to Killer Burger and getting the Peanut Butter Pickle Bacon burger. Surprisingly good!
After dinner, we watched the BYU Football game with our friends and enjoyed a good win over BSU. And off to the Hunger Bowl we go! We already got our tickets and so should you.
Saturday morning, we got our exercise in and then relaxed until we went to the Pumpkin Patch with our friends, Jason and Alysha with their sweet little 3 month old. We headed up to Sauvie Island, which is only 45 minutes north of us in farm country. We got there and first looked around and decided to do the corn maze. I love corn mazes and we started out thinking it was pretty easy, but then we got lost and kept going around in circles. I was very happy about it because that means you are getting your money's worth! We finally found the right path that went under the bridge and made our way out!
After we went to the barn where they had some animals and then to the farm store where they had HUGE squash and cabbage. We then went to the little food stands and got corn on the cob, a pulled pork sandwich, and hot apple cider. After eating, we took the last hayride out to the pumpkin patch. It was getting dark and cold so we found our perfect pumpkins pretty quickly and they only cost $3 each.
We then headed to our place to carve pumpkins! We did stop to get pizza and pumpkin carving tools. Bryce really wanted to carve an astronaut floating in space inspired by the movie Gravity which would require a shaving kit so lucky for him, we found that all the Halloween things were on clearance! We got home and starting carving the pumpkins, which had the thickest shell ever. I guess that is Organic Oregon! The shaving kit came with some patterns so I decided to do the owl. He was so cute and I have never used a pattern before so it was pretty exciting. Of course, I couldn't figure out what the pattern wanted me to do so I just shaved and carved how I wanted. Luckily it turned out well!
Bryce's pumpkin ending up being a masterpiece, taking 6 hours and two nights. Saturday he mostly drew the astronaut and Sunday he very patiently carved and shaved it all. It is the coolest pumpkin I have seen. I just wish we could preserve it!
Jason and Alysha carved a sexy cat in their pumpkin, but I didn't get a picture before they left. It was such a fun day and fun to have friends join us!
Sunday after church, we went with Alysha and Jason to the Japanese Gardens to catch the fall colors. It was so pretty and thankfully the weather turned out nice!
Thanks to Alysha for being our personal photographer all weekend!
