Apple Dumpling Gang

The first two weeks of October have been full of car repairs. It started with my car going to the auto body shop to get fixed from the accident. Luckily, the process was pretty painless because of insurance which provided a rental car - a bright red Hyundai Accent that was pretty fun to drive.
Then while my car was getting fixed, the Honda decided it needed some more loving. We already got it new brakes and tires, but that apparently wasn't good enough. It barely made it home Tuesday after school and then Wednesday morning we had to jump start it. We barely got it to the mechanics and then we were down to just the rental car. The Honda needed a new alternator and luckily they could fix it quickly so we were able to pick it up on Wednesday morning. On Thursday, I got my car back all pretty and with a new windshield! Car problems over right?!
Well, on Friday we had our date night all planned. First we got Chinese for dinner - Sweet'n'Sour Pork and Honey-Glazed Chicken. The honey-glazed came out winner! Then we went to the movies and saw Gravity. It was intense and now I am convinced that I do not want to go to space ever. After the movie, we go to start the car and it struggled. With a little gas, it started, but Saturday we took it back to the mechanics. We were down to one car again.

Of course, one car doesn't stop the party! We went to the Apple Fest again this year and loved it even more. We started with a caramel apple and apple strudel with ice cream. So good that I didn't even have time to take a picture of them. Then we sampled some cheeses, honey, and mustard so we didn't have to stand in the rain. Then when it stopped raining, we walked around the nursery finding pretty trees. Next, we got in line for the apple sampling.
There were more than 50 different kinds of apples and pears to try. The honey crisp apple is always the best. We also got apple cider!
Then we found the biggest apple in the sky!

And don't worry we got the Honda fixed with a new battery and picked it up on Monday. I feel at this point we should not have any car problems for the next five years.

  1. Ugh, car batteries. If only we could come up with a mechanical way of storing energy. :)
