Labor Day Weekend

Holidays are the best! Bryce and I were so excited for the long weekend. Friday I got off work at 12:30PM and came home. Bryce and I ate lunch and then watched Pride and Prejudice episodes 3 & 4. It is so good and Bryce likes it just as much as me! We then went to the park to have root beer floats with friends from the ward. As we arrived, I realized that we would probably be the only couple there without kids. I decided to go straight for the playground and play with the kids. Bryce and I mingled a little and enjoyed our root beet floats, but as usually we end up talking to each other and having kids play with us. We don't mind it! We then returned home to finish Pride and Prejudice.

Saturday we got up and ate puff pancakes. I cut up peaches and mixed them with honey, brown sugar, and cinnamon. It was yummy! Then after breakfast, we got ready and ran to Costco for a few things. We were both wearing our BYU gear so a few people said they liked our shirts, but most people were wearing their Oregon or Beaver shirt. It was all fun though to be celebrating college football together. Then we went to our friend's house to watch the game, but since the game was delayed, we ended up going home and just watching it on our laptop. Ugh, why can't we find players who can throw and catch the ball! Then we finally pull it together and get ahead and then lose it. It hurts to get my hopes up like that and then to have them smashed. Please let the offense figure things out quickly!

Anyways, we actually listened to the last part of the game on our way over to Dan & Elizabeth's place. They just had a baby so we brought them dinner and got to meet the cute little guy! If only we lived closer to each other. After dinner, we drove home and watched Son of Rambow.

On the day of rest, Sunday was very low key, which was nice. We went to church and then relaxed for the rest of the day. I talked to my friend, Lauren, and catch up with her. We went on a walk, I started reading a book, and then we watched Pride & Prejudice, the newer one. It just can't deliver like the other one. Still enjoyed it though.

Monday, we started our day out by getting up around 7:30AM to go hiking. Bryce had found an awesome ridge hike with a lookout point. So we headed out all ready for our hike. It was in Washington so we had a little bit of a drive. It went pretty well until we got on some back roads. First, they were repaving it, but then it turned into a gravel road. We kept driving, but after 30 minutes on the gravel road, we realized we were not where we should be.
We got back to the main road and tried a different way, but the road didn't go to where we wanted to go either. Finally, we were able to get reception and found the roads we needed on our phones. I kept close track of our location and destination as we made our way. Again, we found ourselves on a gravel road, but we were determined. We drove for about 7 miles on the gravel road seeing some other cars as well.
Then we came to the last two miles. The road was crazy. I was so nervous we would break our car. It didn't take us too long to decide our car wasn't made for those kinds of roads and decided to turn around. We luckily were able to find a place to turn around so Bryce didn't have to back up the whole way. On our way down, we ran into jeeps and trucks because clearly that is what kind of vehicle you need for the road. Curse the website that said the road could be done with a mid-size sedan!
We headed back to Portland a little defeated, but glad our car was on solid, paved roads again. We stopped at Ikea to get me a new pillow and then came home. We enjoyed the rest of the afternoon relaxing, which included reading, napping, and snacking. For dinner, we got pizza after we took the car to the car wash. Then after we ate we went on a walk and decided to go to the church to fly Bryce's helicopter that he got for Christmas. It was fun and we also shot some hoops. I learned I have a talent at shooting the ball with my eyes closed. I made 3 baskets in a row! We then went and got Jamba Juice and then watched Paper Moon. It was a good 3-day weekend!
