I love February! It is a short month, it has a holiday, and it is my birth month! So the first weekend of February started out right with a half day of work on Friday because my company took everyone up to Mt. Hood for snow tubing. We ate pizza and chips while watching The Karate Kid on the way up. (Side note: I don't think I have actually ever seen The Karate Kid before this trip). Once we got up there, it was a beautiful sunny day and we enjoyed runs down the hill, a warm lodge, and a few client items that had to be resolved. Overall, it was a fun trip and I came home tired!
Saturday, we wake up to sunshine so Bryce and I decided to go on walk through Tryon Creek Park. Then that evening Bryce went to the Trailblazers basketball game and got sweet seats.
While Bryce was at the game, I made a penguin cake! I got the penguin cake pan a few years ago for Christmas, but I had never been successful at making the cake. This time I was determined and made a fudge pudding chocolate cake. The cake took awhile to bake, but once done I was able to pull it out of the mold and assemble the pieces into a penguin.
Then with the cake decorating kit I got for Christmas this year, I made it look like a cute penguin! Oh, I was so happy with how it turned out.
So Sunday, we went to a superbowl party and I brought the cake to share. Sadly though, neither the penguin cake nor the blackout could not help the 49ers win.
