I decided that this year we needed to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Rhys seemed to be on board with the idea because when we walked into Walmart on Thursday, he starting pointing at the Chinese New Year decorations. My little party boy!! Bryce was in charge of finding a Chinese restaurant and he found some Dim Sum places that were in Portland, but apparently Dim Sum is a lunch thing. With Rhys and his naps, it made it too tricky so he found a closer place in Tigard.
On Saturday after Rhys' morning nap, we went on a walk in Tryon Creek and then to a park. The hope was to wear out Rhys for a good afternoon nap, but he resisted and didn't take one. We headed to dinner at 5:30 and ate at a place called Canton Phoenix. We got a sweet and sour pork meal and then 4 Dim Sum items - steam pork buns, baked buns, shrimp balls, normy gai. The meal was ok, but the Dim Sum was good. Definitely going to go back for those pork buns!
Side note: Our meal came with fortune cookies, but I was very disappointed with the fortunes. Two of the three weren't even fortunes. You had one job fortune cookie!
It was fun, but next year I will have to include a movie!
Gung hai fat choi! My Dad used to work next to Chinatown in Oakland. Sometimes when we would go in to visit him we would walk over to Chinatown and get pork buns. They are so yummy. Absolutely my favorite Chinese food.
