This weekend we had a quick change of plans because Austin and Rachael weren't able to visit. Poor Viv got sick! So with no set plans for Friday evening, Bryce and I met up after work at the Nike employee store and after got Roxy's Hawaiian food. We then came home and relaxed for a little bit. Bryce then had soccer and since we are down to one car I decided to take him and use the time to go shopping. We first stopped at TJ Maxx and got some baskets for the laundry room and drapers that I could use the fabric to make lamp shades and a pillow case.
After dropping Bryce off at soccer, I then went to Target to get the last remaining items on the baby registry with my coupons and gift cards. I figured going at 9PM would be easier than waiting for a Saturday. So I went through my list and got stuff I needed and then threw some other stuff in there that looked good. I figured at the end I could go through everything and if needed return what I didn't like or want. It took me much longer to find everything, but finally I was ready to check out. No one else was in line, but there was only one register opened. Of course, once they started ringing me up like 10 people got in line after me. The girl was trying to be helpful, but somehow it started to get crazy. Another lady had to come and ring my stuff up again and then they couldn't get some coupons to work. So by the end, they felt so bad they gave me more discounts and it was actually the best shopping experience I have ever had! Good job Target! I ended up just getting everything I threw in the cart. Unfortunately, Bryce had to wait at soccer for awhile, but I told him about my successful shopping trip when I finally got to him.
Saturday morning Bryce played basketball and I slept in. Then I got up and got showered right away so we could go to the Apple Festival and pumpkin patch, but then I started organizing and cleaning so we didn't go.
Baby stuff now has a shelf all to himself!
Then Bryce got into some projects too so I went and ran errands. I found some cute baby outfits and other baby things then stopped at the fabric store to get sewing supplies to make lamp shades, a pillow case, and a changing pad cover. However, after not finding very fun options for a changing pad cover, I gave up on that idea. When I finally left the fabric store, it was raining heavily and I got soaked because I didn't have a rain coat or anything. It was sunny when I left the house so I figured I would be good wearing just shorts and a shirt. I then came home and found Bryce had made great progress with our new shelf.
The diapers and wipes have a place to go now!
I then started my sewing projects with help from Melanie. The lamp shades were first and surprisingly took much longer than I expected. In the end, they didn't quite turn out the way I wanted, but Bryce is very happy with how well they work so he can still fall asleep when I finish my night-time routine. The bolster pillowcase ended up being quite the project. Melanie taught me many things including how to use a serger and make circular ends. It definitely isn't perfect, but it is done!
It feels good to make progress on the to-do list and glad we are finding ways to make baby fit.
