I love birthdays especially Bryce's because it ends the 3 month periods where we are 3 years apart! This year I didn't have as much time to plan, but we managed to have fun. Friday night we started by going out for desserts at Pacific Pie Company. It had been recommended by friends and since we ate dinner at home it was fun to get out. We got a slice of apple pie and a raspberry white chocolate tart. Both were excellent!
We then watched a movie called Kind Hearts and Coronets. It is an old British film that is morbidly funny. We enjoyed it.
Then Saturday we got up and went hiking up the Gorge to Punchbowl Falls. It is one of my favorite hikes because it is easy, beautiful, and the first hike I did when I moved to Oregon. It was overcast and rainy for most of it, but we were prepared.
When we got to the falls, Bryce changed into water shoes and walked around. I carefully walked on the rocks at first, but ended up slipping so joined in the water fun. After our hike, we decided to hit up Pine State Biscuits for lunch. We both got the Reggie and it was amazing!
When we got home, we cleaned up and then took a nap. That evening we went downtown for dinner. Bryce wanted to go to an Argentine restaurant called Ox, but since they didn't take reservations it was a 2 hour wait and we didn't want to eat that late. To console our souls, we got donuts at Voodoos and then got sushi. It turned out well.
Bryce's actual birthday was Sunday so we went to church and enjoyed the visit of Elder Baxter. After church we finished a movie and then made a delicious meal - steaks, sweet potato casserole, and roasted broccoli.
As tradition, I made Bryce a birthday card. Then we had friends come over for brownies and ice cream. This is going to be one exciting year ahead!
Happy Birthday Bryce!
