I told Bryce we had to go berry picking because that is one of the best perks of the Northwest. We finally had an open Saturday and got up and headed south. I googled berry farms on my farm and just a short drive down I-5 we were at a berry farm.
They had raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, marionberries, boysenberries, and more! We started with the raspberries that were pretty picked over, but we found lots still. Then when we saw the marionberries and they were perfectly ripe, we went crazy! I felt like a kid in a candy shop. I ate lots and picked lots!
We were very excited to see the fruits of our labors!
Then I started the berry making extravagaza! It was pure joy to find yummy recipes!
So I started with a Marion Berry cobbler, which was very sweet.
Then I tried a Raspberry Cream Pie with crumble top that was tasty and tart.
Next it was Lemon Marion Berry Muffins, which I think we ate them all in a day!
After that I tried Raspberry Freezer Jam. There were lots of warnings in the instructions that if they were not followed exactly would "result in failure," but my rough measuring worked out!
Finally, I made a Lemon Marion Berry Cake. Boy was it rich, but very yummy.
And there are more berries in the freezer just waiting for the next recipe!
