Heat Wave

Besides working and studying for the bar, we haven't been doing too much. Plus, it has been so hot we have tried to lay low and stay cool. After the big 4th of July weekend, we celebrated our 25 months of marriage on Wednesday, July 9th. We celebrated by going to the air-conditioned grocery store and making a pasta salad for a church activity. So exciting, I know! The next night, I had a Relief Society activity where I bought said pasta salad.

Then Friday I got off work early and got a pedicure while Bryce finished studying. In the evening, we went out to dinner and got wings. Portland was pretty dead and no one was out. I think the heat scared everyone out of town. We also got donuts at Voodoo and no one was there either. We then watched a movie, but I fell asleep. Saturday I got up at 6:45AM because it was so light outside I couldn't sleep anymore. I laid in bed for awhile and then got up and started reading a book. By 10AM, it was getting warm so I went to the pool. I swam and read for awhile and then Bryce joined me at the pool for his lunch break. After swimming, I got ready for the day and we went on a hunt for air-conditioning so we hit up the library, the mall, and the grocery store. It was a good escape from our sauna apartment. We then had a fun BBQ party at our friend's house. They also invited some new couples who just moved here so hopefully we will be more social!

Sunday we went to church and then watched the world cup. In the family bracket, Bryce and I went head to head - Bryce picking Argentina and me with Germany - AND I WON!
With another hot week, I was looking forward to the weekend and swimming. Saturday I woke up with a cleaning bug, which hasn't happened in awhile and it was definitely overdue. I made sure to get the bathroom and kitchen sparkling! After cleaning, I went to the pool and this time I brought my goggles. I swam for awhile, but left before I got burned. I then talked to my friend, Heidi, who just got back from a Scandinavian cruise. This conversation has convinced me that Bryce and I need to go on a cruise and we need to get back to Europe soon! I am thinking a Mediterranean cruise could be perfect. Anyways, that evening Bryce and I went out to dinner at a new place called Radar. Surprisingly, they took reservations so we showed up for 6:30PM reservation and got a table right away. It was awesome! Bryce got the grilled trout that was incredible.
I got chicken with Dijon spaetlze that was good, but a little heavy for a hot day. Also, please notice how many people are wearing yellow around me.
The only negative thing about the place was no air conditioning! It was in the 90s so I wanted some frozen yogurt to cool off. Sadly, we couldn't find a place close by so we just went home and watched a movie.

Sunday we went to church in the morning, relaxed in the afternoon, and had a game night with friends. It is so exciting to have some new people move into our ward!
