After having just a 4-day work week, we were ready for a relaxing weekend. When I got home from work on Friday, Bryce mentioned going out to dinner for my birthday and even though it is still two weeks away I wasn't going to say no! We decided to go to a restaurant called Mother's that our friends had recommended. It was right downtown just a few blocks from Voodoo Doughnuts. The place is very cute with little chandeliers and tables. We sat by an e-harmony first date that was so entertaining that Bryce and I ate mostly in silence so we could listen to their conversation. The guy ordered some wine and then did the whole swirl and smell before sipping all with his eyes closed! I was dying. Then she talked about how she works at a real Apple store and he has never been to a real one before and that he should come visit her and he will be so impressed with how loud and big it is. You don't say? Then Bryce loved when she started talking about yoga and religion. Oh boy! Anyways, back to us....the food we got was amazing. We started with a beet salad and rolls and biscuits, which were all great. Then I got the red snapper with pink grapefruit on a bed of spinach and spaetzle - it was delicious!
Bryce got the braised beef brisket with the best tasting zucchini. I want to know their secret!
After dinner we ran over to Voodoo's since we were so close. Of course, we were so full from dinner we decided it would be best to save them for breakfast. Anyways, we got home and watch the movie, Captain Phillips. It was super intense and crazy that it is based on a true story. I liked it and thought Tom Hanks did a great job that I even forgot that he was the actor.
Saturday was very relaxing, which was good because I wasn't feeling very well. I slept a lot, but we also cleaned and played Super Mario. I also tried air drying my hair, but it didn't turn out very well. I ended up straightening it and decided that I will never truly be an Oregonian because my hair needs to be done. So that evening, we went out to dinner with our friend, Adam. He recommended a Thai place and we were all for it. Bryce got the orange chicken and I got the mango chicken. Both were amazing! We also got Tom Yum soup and wontons. After dinner, we went over to the Moses' to watch BYU get beat by Gongaza in basketball. So sad.
Sunday was pretty standard. We had church and I taught primary. We went over to our friend's house for home teaching and played games in the evening. It was fun and we learned some new games.
