Baby, It's Cold Outside

This past weekend was COLD. Friday morning, we woke up to snow flurries so I left a little later to work, but it ended up taking me over an hour to get to work. Everyone was driving slow and there was ice. I hit ice three times! The first ice patch startled me, but my tires just slipped for a second. Then a little up the road, I got into the left turning lane behind other cars, but when I tried to stop I just kept going. As I was sliding, I just prayed that I would not hit the car in front of me. Thankfully, I was going slow and had enough space that my car finally stopped on the ice. I then realized that the four cars in front of me had all hit each other and I was so grateful I didn't join them!

I did get a little nervous when I saw a bus behind me and just prayed that it wouldn't have problems on the ice and hit me. So once I made it through the light, I had a right turn at the next light. I watched the car in front of me slide on some ice so I approached cautiously, but still ended up sliding. Luckily, I didn't hit the curb or a car and made the stop at the light. By the time I got to work, I was pretty shaken up though.

Luckily, my drive home was uneventful. Then Bryce and I were planning on going to a law school Christmas party, but when we showed up at the house, we were greeted by a girl in PJs eating a popsicle. Clearly the party had been cancelled, but apparently they didn't send out an email letting everyone know. Oh well! The night was still young and so we headed downtown for some Indian food. Then we came home and watched Oblivion.

Saturday Bryce had to study for finals so I cleaned the house and did laundry. Then I went out shopping for my Christmas outfit. Usually it is quite stressful, but I was determined to start early. And it paid off! I found three outfits! That night we bundled up and headed to the Portland Zoo for the zoo lights. They were pretty impressive!
We are so happy and frozen!
I especially liked penguins and no one told me not to feed the birds.
THAT'S A LOT OF LIGHTS!
The tunnel of lights where picture taking was at its peak!
And then there was a peacock!
And this tree out in the parking lot that was so well done. It was so fun! After we got cheesecake and came home to get warm.

Sunday was more relaxing and I wore one of my Christmas outfits! I had to wear a coat through most of church though because it was so cold. Then after we took a long nap, we went over to our newly married friend's house for her birthday dinner. The food was excellent and the company was even better. Now for a new week that hopefully will be a little warmer!
